FISH! Philosophy in the Workplace

The FISH! Philosophy began when John Christensen, chief executive officer of ChartHouse Learning, encountered the Pike Place Fish Market accidentally one day, and noticed something unusual was going on. A bunch of fishmongers -- not MBA professors or leadership gurus -- were showing him how to bring more fun, passion, focus, and commitment to work.

The FISH! program is based on the work practices put into play each day by the fishmongers at the Pike Street Fish Market in Seattle, Wash. who bring a unique, but totally accessible, passion and attitude to the workplace. Seattle's Pike Place Fish Market is world famous for their fish and their outstanding customer service. By applying the simple lessons learned from the employees of the fish market, the workplace is transformed.

The FISH! Philosophy is based on four simple, yet powerful concepts.

Play

Be There

Make Their Day

Choose Your Attitude

The FISH! philosophy reminds us how important it is to take control of our day to day attitudes and use that power to create a workplace that we like even when the work is hard as it is in the Pike Street Fish Market.

Join thousands of other organizations that have discovered the power of FISH! to:
