Teambuilding!
What does that really mean? For many people, teambuilding is a catch-all phrase that covers a lot of different needs. All teams need maintenance. All teams will perform at a lower level is attention is not paid to the dynamics of the team. Sometimes this happens naturally when a formal or informal leader takes actions that attend to the interpersonal needs of the group or team. Other times, it only receives attention when there is a crisis. Our approach to training and team dynamics is that every event whether it is a new project, a seminar, or a teaming event are opportunities to do teambuilding. Creating a high performing team takes a lot of work and a little luck. Teams that function at a high level need maintenance just like a piece of fine machinery. If your team would benefit from some "team maintenance", look over our offerings below. However, if your team is in need of repair or is dealing with productivity stifling issues, look at our other tools for improving performance. Everything we do has has one of it's aims to build the team, to strengthen the team and make it more productive. Some of the ways we do this are described below:

Corporate Teaming Events
Let Moonshadow Learning Services, Inc. plan your next fun and interactive corporate event for a staff retreat, kick off event or meeting. In addition to the wide variety of training sessions that we offer, we can deliver a two to eight hour session with a focus on fun and camaraderie. Each event can be delivered indoors or outdoors and can be tailored to include content or themes from your program.

Village"CLUES"   (Orienteering/Letterboxing/Scavenger Hunt)
Teams are presented with a challenge and the necessary tools to complete their challenge. The tools include a map, compass and and sets of CLUES. Teams orienteer, solve riddles and find answers to their CLUES hidden in boxes along the route. Teams race from checkpoint to checkpoint. This activity builds interdependence and a shared sense of purpose.

GEO Challenge

During the GEO Challenge, you and a small group of peers will compete against other groups to complete a course using a Global Positioning System (GPS) device to locate boxes, solve the problem or task described, and proceed to the next box. The team that solves the problems, finds all the boxes, and completes the circuit in the shortest amount of time is the champion. Why Geo Challenge?: Because finding your way in business requires a keen sense of direction and a high performing team. Unique, high tech FUN!

Nantahala Village Extreme Team Olympics

person on walker

Teams compete in a series of decathlon events for "gold medals". The events involve problem solving, cooperation, creativity and a huge dose of laughter. See your team perform the "High Jump" aka Group Jump Rope or the "Shot Put" aka Pumpkin Toss. It's sure to be a fun and high energy event that your team will remember.

Nantahala Village Amazing Relay Race

Activities are designed to present individuals and groups with a series of problems, scenarios, and situations that must be solved by using cooperation, creativity, and problem solving skills. This event can take place indoors or outdoors.

Nantahala Village Survivor

Don't worry, you won't get voted off this island! Teams are presented with a series of challenges and choices of "survival tools". Tools include a map and compass (Don't panic- you'll get instructions.) along with a number of "tools" to choose from. Your final score will depend on how wisely you made choices along the way. This event builds interdependence and a shared sense of  purpose in the context of competition. Ask us about T-shirts and bandanas!

Nantahala Village Team Cuisine- A Recipe for Success

Use a familiar setting (a kitchen), with a group of individuals with diversified talents (your team), using creativity with clear boundaries (recipes), along with a competent supervisor (a real chef), to achieve a desired goal (a great meal). That's right, you and your team will create a gourmet meal for yourselves and in the process discover how to maximize your individual strengths, strategies for addressing key issues, a spirit of cooperation towards a desired outcome, and how this experience relates to on-the-job relationships and challenges.

Nantahala Village Murder Mystery

Role playing combined with problem-solving is a combination for a fun and entertaining evening. Usually revolving around an evening meal, a murder (well, not a real murder) takes place. Your team will receive "clues" that will help you "solve" the mystery. Lots of different scenarios are available that can be adapted for different size groups. Test your detective skills while promoting iinnovation and problem-solving, breaking down barriers, improving communication and listening skills and encouraging team collaboration and cooperation

Seminars and Workshops

Teaming with Style
Use a skill building session for teambuilding. Based on either DiSC or MBTI (Myers- Briggs Type Indicator), this event helps each team member understand behavior better- their own as well as others. With a mix of hands on activities that guarantee laughs and insights, this four hour session guides the group to improved teamwork through the exploration of individual differences and their value to the team. The group has the option to complete the surveys on-line before they arrive.

Time Management

Not enough time, not enough time! Everyone gets the same 24 hours each day and yet some people seem to get so much done while others end the day unable to account for the time they've spent. In this fast paced world, the skill of how to manage time is indispensable!

We start with an instrument to assess your current "style" of time management and then help you create a toolbox of techniques and tools that will make you more productive, more satisfied, and more in control of how you spend your time.

Your Best Year Yet
