Conflict Management

Understanding basic physiology of and reactions to conflict form the basis of improving techniques for obtaining positive outcomes when the inevitable conflict occurs. Participants will practice managing conflict involving them as well as conflict that involves co-workers and supervisors. After profiling your own style of conflict management, you will recognize why certain situations elicit certain reactions while others don’t. Role plays and coaching will be used to create win-win situations where it seemed unlikely.

Course Objectives

After successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

· Understand the elements of conflict.

· Recognize and begin to control personal reactions to conflict

· Practice techniques for de-escalating conflict and bringing positive outcomes.

· Categorize conflict into specific types and choose the right technique to work with each type.
